DOROTHY A .BOERNER, 85 of Mays Landing, NJ went home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2011 at Mainland Manor Nursing home in Pleasantville, NJ after a lengthy illness. She was born on February 22, 1925, raised in Mays Landing and was the daughter of Arthur and Adelaide (Liepe) Boerner. She attended Mays Landing school and graduated from Pleasantville High School, Class of 1943. In addition to her parents Dorothy was predeceased by her sister Eleanor (Howard, Sr.) Bird, brothers Arthur Boerner Jr., Walter Boerner and Henry Boerner and a nephew, Henry (Pam) Bird. She is survived by her brother William (Catherine) Boerner Sr. and sisters Marion Boerner and Adeline Boerner as well as 3 nephews; Howard (Deborah) Bird Jr., Norman (Donene) Bird and William Boerner Jr., 3 nieces, Elaine Bird, Jean Boerner and Deborah (Michael) Ein, 14 great nieces and nephews and 14 great great nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a member of the Moravian Church in Egg Harbor City and before her illness served as a sacristan and also served as a Treasurer of the Building fund of the church. After graduating from high school, she worked for England General Hospital ( US Army) in Atlantic City and then for Atlantic City Electric Company in the Accounting Dept for 38 years before retiring in 1987. She enjoyed baking, gardening, embroidery work and most of all skiing in Vermont. Also she enjoyed the vacations in Wyoming visiting her brother Henry and seeing much of this beautiful country along the way. Funeral service for Dorothy Boerner is scheduled for 11am at the Moravian Church 235 Boston Avenue Egg Harbor City, NJ. Relatives and friends may call from 10 am until time of service on Thursday February 3rd. Burial will be at Union Cemetery Mays Landing, NJ immediately following the service. Arrangements under the supervision of Saraceno Funeral Home 1114 White Horse Pike, Egg Harbor City, NJ. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in Dorothy's memory to the Moravian Church 235 Boston Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215 or the charity of choice.
