Harry 86 of Wading River peacefully departed this life at his home in Wading River. He was the beloved father of Amanda Somes(Frank). He was born in Bayhead, NJ in 1928 to Lewis and Lola Herbert. He attended school in Bay Head and graduated from Point Pleasant Beach High School. He lived a full life as a master of many crafts and skills. In his youth he was a lifeguard in Bay Head and Point Pleasant., a fisherman, clammer, and boat building along side of Uncle Hank (Tilton) at Johnsons Boat Yard. Later he traveled to out West to Colorado and Montana and rode bucking horses in Rodeos and traveled to Rocky Mountains to be a pack guide to many hollywood stars. He traveled the world working in Power Plants. He was a master of crafts including cabinet maker, carpenter and wood worker. He moved to South Jersey in 1972 and settled in Wading River and Lower Bank. He later made horse saddles and took up oil painting and Jewelry making. Even at 86 years young he made model boats. He is predeceased by his wife Nancy(Phillips) and long time beloved partner of 40 years Doris (Ryder), parents Lola and Lewis and brother Robert. He is survived by his daughter Amanda Somes (Frank), 3 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
