Joseph Salvatore Santacroce
January 8, 1970 - March 28, 2020
Joseph Salvatore Santacroce, often nicknamed, “Joe Beef,” passed away at the age of 50 due to complications from COVID-19 on March 28, 2020 in Staten Island, New York. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Paolo and Francesca Santacroce natives of Sicily, Italy. He is survived by his wife, Susan, two daughters, Francesca and Georgina, along with his parents and siblings, Nicholas and Anthony. Joseph inhabited all the qualities of an Italian American: strong worth ethic and dedication to family. He was a proponent of the second Amendment and strongly believed in the regulation and safety of firearms. He volunteered and loved spending time at the Richmond Borough Gun Club, teaching others how to safely handle firearms. A lover of hunting and respecting animals, he and his best friend, Anthony, would enjoy the outdoors together and reminisce times working together for New York City Transit Authority as high pressure plant tenders and as an asbestos supervisor. Joseph exhibited compassion for all, strongly instilling an importance of volunteering and giving to those in need, even if struggling as well. Joseph supported the Catholic Church, giving his time to the parish and school of St. Joseph-St. Thomas. Joseph survived the 9/11 attacks in Manhattan, strongly supporting the NYPD and FDNY. If you asked for his help on a Tuesday, he would be present the Monday before with anything to help. He supported the community of Tottenville High School, when in times of need, especially when losing a beautiful young lady to suicide at the local train station, remaining with her until emergency services were present. Joseph opened his heart and arms to those affected by Superstorm Sandy, organizing, collecting, and delivering supplied to those in need. These are just a few of the examples and times Joseph helped others. If any of these examples do not show how great of a man he was, I don’t know what will. He will always be remembered as someone with a giant smile, always ready to crack a joke and make someone laugh. His memory will never be forgotten so long as we continue to serve others and carry on his legacy. We love you; may you rest in the sweetest peace in Heaven.
