Virginia McGill

June 24, 2018

Virginia "Jean" McGill 79, of Egg Harbor City, went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2018. Virginia was a gracious, determined, hardworking, family-orientated woman. A wonderful wife, a great mother, a proud grandmother, dedicated sibling, a very loving aunt and truly an anchor of unconditional love and support to all that knew her. She would go to any extent to help someone in their darkest moment, to cheer lead them on or celebrate the many milestones of joyous moments in their lives. She often and regularly made withdrawals from the "bank of life" to uplift others. Jean was a very vocal person who told you not what you wanted to hear but what needed to be said, but don't mess with her family. Jean understood that family provides the legacy and anchor that cohesively binds a family together and she was instrumental in reminding her love ones of that through her actions, her phenomenal cooking and the many dinners that she prepared over the decades to keep her loved ones connected. The art of food, mixed with a lot of love and the ability to support each other were necessary ingredients for families and she unassumingly worked at this recipe throughout her life which all that loved her benefited from through the decades. She loved her beautiful garden, a collection of wonderful flowers and vegetables. Jean's many bird houses and collection of elephants were dear to her. She enjoyed a day trip to the casino occasionally and loved yard sales. She will be remembered for her tenacity and strength. She was a warrior, the matriarch and would accept anyone into her house and make them feel at home. She was the last surviving sibling of twelve brothers and sisters. Jean leaves behind her loving children Jackie Anderson and Gerald McGill, her cherished grandson Cameron, a host of nieces and nephews especially her dear nieces Shirley Bynum, and Laura Harris, great nephews Nikita and Chasen Grantham and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews. Friends will be greeted at Saraceno Funeral Home 1114 White Horse Pike Egg Harbor City NJ on Monday July 2 at 12:00 Noon . A service will begin at 1:00 pm and a Burial at Egg Harbor City Cemetery will follow.
